Shearer Painting/Fine Paints of Europe

Shearer Painting will soon be one of the few organizations in the nation to be certified in the use of Fine Paints of Europe. According to the Fine Paints’ Certified Painting Contractor Program, only organizations with employees who are knowledgeable about the products and skilled in their use will obtain the certification.

A contractor becomes worthy of certification only when designated by a Fine Paints retailer. Daly’s Paints is the only seller of Fine Paints in Seattle. To be designated, organizations should have worked with Fine Paints merchandise for more than 5 years, charge a reasonable price for high-quality work, upkeep good character, and attend a weekend training at Fine Paints’ Vermont headquarters. All through the training, participants learn in detail about Fine Paints products and the best application methods.

Fine Paints of Europe, begun in 1987, is the only U.S. importer of the long-lasting super-gloss varnishes and oil paints from the Dutch organization WijzonolBouwverven B.V. Fine Paints also sells varieties of colors by American designers and is the only licensee of Pantone Paints. Fine Paints products are now being used in a big way in residential and commercial ventures, but the product was initially used mainly in revitalization of historic buildings. In 1997, the Headlines Salon at Seattle’s University Village gave Shearer the job of painting its storefront black with Fine Paints of Europe. Since then, the store has needed repainting only twice despite the constant stroller and shopping cart usage, and it still preserves its shine and depth of color.
