NACE International Introduces Standard

2-hour course provides in-depth explanation of the Corrosion Prevention and Control Planning Standard

NACE International proudly announces the release of a new course designed to introduce and explain the Corrosion Prevention Control (CPC) standard formally adopted by the Department of Defense (DoD) last month. Developed by a joint task forced represented by NACE International, DoD, and SSPC, the standard reforms and modernizes acquisition practices, and fosters innovation and the sustainment of equipment, systems, facilities, and infrastructure.

The standard enables significant cost savings while providing a framework for a supplier’s corrosion control plan for supplied products and structures. It benefits public and private facility owners and acquisition agencies that require suppliers to provide corrosion prevention and control procedures as a deliverable with the purchased product, installation, or system.

When the DoD Corrosion Policy and Oversight Office (CPO) was developed it prioritized the use of corrosion control technology and immediately measured a high return on investment of using those technologies; equipment readiness also improved. The CPO’s efforts revealed an opportunity for additional improvements starting at the point of purchase by requiring vendors and suppliers to adhere to a set of CPC standards.

NACE’s new Corrosion Prevention and Control Management e-Course includes a downloadable copy of the standard and a primer on the basics of corrosion.
