Sherwin-Williams to become ‘nationwide supplier’ of paints to Lowe’s U.S. stores

Cleveland-based Sherwin-Williams Co. (NYSE: SHW) and Mooresville, N.C.-based Lowe’s Cos. are growing their partnership, according to a news release.

This means Sherwin-Williams will become the only “nationwide supplier” of interior and exterior paints to Lowe’s U.S. retail outlets, the release stated, and Lowe’s will be the only “nationwide home center” offering Sherwin-Williams’ Minwax, Cabot and Thompson’s WaterSeal stain brands, Purdy paintbrush brand and Krylon spray paint brand.

Lowe’s will introduce the Krylon spray paint products in its first fiscal quarter, the release stated, and other products throughout the year.

“We are excited to expand the partnership with Lowe’s to deliver a simplified paint and stain line that is designed to make it easier for customers to buy and associates to sell,” said Aaron Erter, president and general manager of Sherwin-Williams’ consumer brands division, in the release. “As paint continues to reign as the #1 do-it-yourself project, we know this expanded alliance will provide an improved experience that helps make customers more confident when selecting a color, product and applicator for their next paint or stain project.”

The release notes that Sherwin-Williams introduced the HGTV Home by Sherwin-Williams brand at Lowe’s in 2015, and that Valspar Corp., which the company acquired last year, launched the Valspar paint brand at Lowe’s in 2007.
