What are the chances that a person from the general public will get lead poisoned by simply walking by or spending a brief time in a commercial or public building under renovation? True story: the EPA has come up with the idea that being near a run of the mill renovation can expose average citizens to dangerous amounts of lead paint dust remnants. The EPA seems to be saying that brief, intermittent dust will lessen the quality of human life or maybe cut it short.

Regulatory Review: EPA’s Push for Commercial RRP
Already industry feedback has labeled the current RRP rules as misaligned and ineffective; essentially, it is a useless, weighted yoke for small businesses to unnecessarily lug about. Yet, the EPA wants to expand the residential RRP (Renovation, Repair & Painting) regulation to commercial and public buildings. Remember that the EPA must scientifically prove that a hazard exists before implementing rules. The justification for the current (home based and child occupied facility) RRP was supposedly to protect children: five years old and younger.

The Workforce Shortage Report
For decades, the industry’s image suffered as college became the go-to goal for career success. Now, as the products of the information age struggle to find work, construction firms battle to find qualified labor. The tipping point, many believe, has finally arrived. “It’s almost too much good news,” says Ken Simonson, chief economist for AGC of America. Currently Brooks Painting completed a very complex project for Sunseri Construction at the Arden fair Mall in Sacramento, CA. Arden Fair Mall added LED lighting and T.V. screens to the outside of the main customer elevator. This new look flashes hip marketing and company advertisement images for customers to see. At a glance it seems pretty easy, add some metal support, add some metal LED brackets and paint everything nicely. But with multiple trades needed to take this elevator from just a point of travel to a MEGA Big Screen T.V. has been a challenge. READ NOW
