Painting Pro Times, the source for paint professionals!
Between the scramble of daily work and the barrage of too many media outlets reporting storms, tragedies, and mayhem, the pace becomes fast and maddening. It can be numbing. The statistics mimic inside baseball analysis. Instead of batting average and obscure factoids like, ninth inning on base percentage, we measure deaths, injuries, homes without power, houses and buildings set for demolition, number of people in shelters and so on. It is worth realizing that we should not get preoccupied with disaster central or become desensitized, while watching the plight of the unfortunate in real time.
Improving Crew Productivity
The retirement of older workers, the job losses predicated by the economic downturn and the perception of construction work as a “last choice”all point to a shortage of qualified craft professionals at a time when demand for massive upgrades to infrastructure, industrial facilities and commercial space is on the horizon.

Legislative committee examines problems, solutions for construction labor shortage in Arizona “The labor shortage in Arizona is a growing crisis that not only threatens the construction economy but also impacts the Arizona economy overall,” Carol Floco, CEO, American Subcontractors Association of Arizona, told a state Senate panel in a recent hearing at the Capitol. “We need to make construction (Painting*) – - sexy again,” she said.

The challenges of preserving, renovating, growing and maintaining such a diverse campus, with more than 300 buildings and 33,000 students, can be daunting. Michael Mercurio, a project manager with the school’s Facilities Department decided to embrace improvements in coatings technology.
Contractor Pleads Insanity
An Idaho man convicted of storing hazardous waste on his property that cost the government almost $500,000 to clean up was unable to convince the Ninth Circuit to overturn his conviction on grounds of diminished mental capacity.
